The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Lagos was inaugurated on 30.08.1962. In the process of relocation of the capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from Lagos to Abuja, the Embassy established a Liaison Ofice on 01.09.1999, in Abuja. In the year 2001, the Embassy in Lagos was closed down and moved to Abuja, where it has been based and conducting its activities since then. Consequently, Embassy's Lagos Liaison Office was closed down in 2003.
The Embassy is also accredited to Economic Commission of West African States (ECOWAS).
