We welcome the agreement reached by the leaders of the United States and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea through a Joint Declaration on 12 June 2018 in Singapore, aiming to build lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula, to establish new US-DPRK relations and to work for complete denuclearization of the Peninsula.

We commend the decisions and commitments made during the Summit and regard them as a milestone in the diplomatic process, which has been going on since early this year.

Following the agreement reached by the leaders of South and North Korea in April, it is essential that the historic opportunity created by the political will of the US and DPRK leaders be culminated by new positive steps for regional and global peace.

Bearing in mind her historical ties, Turkey will continue to support efforts toward establishing stability and peace on the Korean Peninsula.
